Court Hearings

After your bankruptcy case is filed, there is one court hearing that you must attend. It is called a 341 Creditors meeting. When you file, the court automatically assigns a date for the hearing. We will be able to tell you soon after we file your case the date and time of the hearing, as well as who your trustee will be. 

Bring With You To Court 

Proof of social security number (social security card, or other document
that will clearly show your social security number) 

Driver's license or other photo I.D. to prove your identity 

Please note: Debtors filing in Wichita or Kansas City may not bring a cell phone into the courthouse. Debtors who do so will be asked to take it back to their car at the security station. Topeka bankruptcy hearings are in an office building that does not require debtors to go through security; therefore, if you file in Topeka, you may bring your cell into the hearing with you.

The courthouse  takes up an entire block of 3rd Street, with a corner of the building on N Market St and the other corner on Main St.

Enter through the west entrance (Main Street). The hearings are held in room B56, in the basement of the courthouse.
